His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. Daniel 7:14

God has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son. Colossians 1:13

The most amazing gift is the gift of God’s grace when he gave his only begotten son to defeat death and rise again to pay for the sins of all who believe and come to him. I’ve heard it said, “God helps those who help themselves.” A more accurate saying to me would be,“ God helps those who cannot help themselves.;”  or maybe it should be, “God helps when we can and when we cannot help ourselves.”

God is always with us turning the most dark of times and experiences into times of hope. I’ve also heard the advice, “No matter how dark things are, remember, this time of disaster will not last. Find the speck of light in a dark situation and focus on that.” Is such a statement just a platitude? I don’t think so. We’ve seen countless times after a natural disaster when communities and officials band together to restore order out of such things as floods, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

Then there are times when personal strife is trying beyond belief. Often, there is a glimmer of hope then also. If the pain at the time is too difficult to see any hope, there is always God. He is there to restore our hope and to give us the strength to turn things over to him. We know that God sees and knows everything, and that he has always done so.He can help us to turn our attitude despair into one of hope and deepening faith. The mystery of how God can bring such change, and then as we experience the change, gives us a foretaste of our future in God’s kingdom.

Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Thank you for your grace which brings us from death to life, from darkness to day. Reign in our hearts and help us to always turn to you. We live in the knowledge that your kingdom will come and that we will be with you in your kingdom. We look forward to your kingdom to come. We thank you for the many blessings faith in your enduring promises brings to each of us in our days on this earth. Amen.
