My iniquities have gone over my head; they weigh like a burden too heavy for me. Psalm 38:4

Christ canceled the unfavorable record of our debts with its binding rules and did away with it completely by nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:14 GNT

When Jesus died and rose from the grave he defeated death and freed believers from eternal damnation. Yet, we continue to have worries and fears that try to turn us away from our trust in the Lord and his plan for each one of us. When we give in to the burdens we carry and try to solve them ourselves, we fail and continue to carry the burdens.

There are times when each one of us sins and falls short. Think of a time when you felt stressed beyond reason and felt overwhelmed. Did that time last? No bad and difficult times last, although it may seem so as one deals with the situation. Jesus came to bring lasting hope and peace to our aching hearts. He expects us to share hope and love with others who are hurting and in despair. Paul taught that Jesus came for all people and that our burdens are never too great for Jesus to bear. When we live with the Holy Spirit reigning in our hearts, we have the peace that passes all understanding and can forgive others.

Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Death could not hold you and you arose to defeat the power of sin and death. Bring our sinful natures back to know your truth whenever we fail and fall short of your plan for each one of us. Your forgiveness teaches us to forgive others. Thank you for counting each one of us as your precious child. Amen.
