He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Isaiah 40:29

Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35

I am amazed at the resilience of the people in war-torn and drought-stricken countries. Life is very precious, and the victims shown in the news in these despicable situations continue to strive for help even as they often are offering help to others. Most see a glimmer of hope in their futures even as there is little evidence of anything for which to hope. Help for those in need often comes from those who have no way of knowing the individuals who will receive the aid.

Sometimes it isn't the most desperate situations affecting many that lead us to feel powerless. We can also feel hungry and thirsty over the cares of life over which we feel powerless. These cares are valid and are known by God. He is there to give us strength, courage, and the bread of life as soon as we turn to Him. Sometimes it takes a while before we feel the comfort of God's presence, but just knowing that God knows our every need and will respond according to the needs that He sees that we have is a step toward the peace that we seek. As we calm ourselves to await God's answer instead of demanding His care, we are stepping toward all that we need which is all that our Father knows that we need.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

Thank you, Lord, for knowing and responding to our needs. Give us discernment to always turn our cares and needs over to you. Give us the help that we need to know the difference between wants and needs and to turn to you accordingly. Help us to always be more thankful and less demanding.  Amen.
