We are conducting an exploratory survey of our members around becoming an official Reconciling in Christ congregation.

Having a "Reconciling in Christ" designation is a public way for faith communities to see, name, celebrate, and advocate for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions in the Lutheran church. Every member's feedback and participation in this conversation and process is vital and important, so please taking a few moments to share your voice by clicking here!

Proposed RIC WELCOME STATEMENT - (Full Version)

We the people of Christ the King Lutheran Church of Bloomington, MN believe that Jesus taught and exemplified a life of love, and so we seek to be loving in all of our relationships.

We invite all people - inclusive of age, race, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, family structure, ability or disability - into the sacred spaces of our faith community as welcome and full participants; including as volunteers, elected congregational leaders, staff, and rostered ministers.

We affirm the sacredness of people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

We affirm the sacredness of all those who have experienced exclusion because of race, ability, age, religion, or culture.

We affirm the sacredness of those who wrestle with addiction, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, past religious trauma, doubts and questions, or anything that too often divides us.

As we commit to welcoming and celebrating the sacredness of all people, we also strive to make antiracist choices and work toward racial equity by dismantling all forms of systemic sin and oppression in our faith community, in our nation, and in our world, by better aligning our words and actions to the hopes and teachings of Jesus.

We have two versions of our RIC Welcome Statement, a full version and a condensed version. Please review both versions here and provide your feedback by answering the question on the postcard and mailing it in or going to .
