Sometimes it is easy to become discouraged by what is happening in the world and close to home. I find that some days I just have to hear or read less of the news of the day by turning off media and/or closing the newspaper. I may feel disconnected from God during such a time, but God is still there speaking to me as he speaks also to you. Regardless of what is going on beyond our reach, God's word, care, guidance, and love are there just waiting for our ears to hear and our eyes to to see.
 
Even though God's guidance is always there for each one of us, sometimes we do not answer and feel disconnected. Yet God is is there as soon as we turn back to him. He speaks to each one of us, washes us from that which is obscuring God's image on our hearts, and leads us back to living a holy life.
 
Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with your free spirit.* Amen.
