Our God—the great and mighty and awesome God, keeping covenant and steadfast love—do not treat lightly all the hardship that has come upon us. Nehemiah 9:32

I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

We sometimes sing a song, especially with the kids – “Our God is an Awesome God.” Nehemiah apparently would sing that right along with us as he appeals to God to be with the people in a time of hardship. It’s true – our God is really Awesome! He keeps his covenant that He has made with His people. Plus, God is steadfast in His love for the people in Nehemiah, and all the rest of us too.

Can God’s love for us have an end? NO!. We read in Romans that nothing can separate us from

The love of God through Christ Jesus our Lord. That’s it – absolutely nothing can separate us from God’s love. It may seem at times that we are alone, that everyone including God has abandoned us. Not true.

It reminds me of a multiple-choice test. Question which of the following separates us from God’s love? Then a list like illness, grief, injury, celebration, or none of the above. There could be many questions like this, but always only one correct answer: “None of the above.” No matter what options we would put in those questions, it’s always none of the above. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love.

Creator, we find comfort in your eternal steadfast love. We face daily hardships as we continue to walk the path of life. Our worries sometimes overwhelm us. Thank you for your promise to love us always, no matter what. May we persevere in all that we do, trusting in your grace. Amen.
