The Lord said to Moses: "All the people among whom you live shall see the work of the Lord." Exodus 34:10

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. Matthew 4:23

I enjoy seeing scenes around me that may become reference photos for the paintings that I do. Last week I was with a cousin whom I had not seen for a year. Barb said to me, "Did you do a painting of the scene along Lake Superior that we saw and photographed last summer?"

I had to admit that the scene we saw and photographed slipped my mind, but that I did paint several other scenes during this past year. Next year I will have the scene to which she referred painted to show to her for sure!

The point is that there are countless scenes of God's wonders in this world that are revealed to us at every turn. Each of us sees scenes around us through our own lens and with our own inner judgment that gives us eyes to see "the work of the Lord." For some it is a beautiful flower, a bird gliding through the air, a mesmerizing sunrise or sunset, a new baby, seeing a loved one who has successfully recovered from an illness, etc. I could go on and on.

The wonder of all of it is that God created this world for us, his precious children, but we know that what we have here is but a foretaste of the life to come when we join him in our heavenly home.

We are blessed to live in a world of wonder, but we know that it is not a world of wonder among those who are starving or living through the ravages of disease and war. As we thank God for all that he does for us, let us also remember the needs of others--those among us, and those far away-- who suffer. Help them to see even the smallest wonder in their lives to give them hope and to strengthen their faith.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Open our eyes to reveal to us all of the wonders in our lives. We can see many of them, but know that you have more for us to see. Help us to pray for others and to help those who struggle with the difficulties that pervade many lives. Give to each of us a voice to spread the Gospel to others and to let them know the blessings of God's grace. Amen.
