Yours, O Lord, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours. 1 Chronicles 29:11
God has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, as a plan for all the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. Ephesians 1:9-10
One spring we had a robin's nest right outside of our sun room window where we could watch the nest while the growing family could not see us. Nearly every day there was something new to observe as Mother Robin tended her brood of three. One of the most interesting things to us was how she had to struggle to protect, feed, nurture, and teach her babies. It was a new experience to observe this even though we were somewhat aware of what would be going on.
One of the first things we had to do was to hang a covering over part of the window, because Mom saw her reflection in our window and bloodied her breast trying to eliminate her reflection (To her it was an enemy seeking to attack her family.). One day after a windy rainstorm, the nest was on the ground along with the babies. We put all back on the branch thinking that she may give up on her brood. No way! She was right back in the nest calming the babies and being Mom to them. Just the everyday happenings were enough exhaust Mom. Soon enough, she was teaching the babies to fly, and then the family was gone.
I was reminded of this happening today as I read the passages, because it is Spring, and because we are surrounded at all times of the greatness that God has created on earth. The joy of watching our young robin family was a tiny example of the greatness of God. The mother robin knew how to tend and raise her young family. God's amazing greatness has prepared all of his creation and creatures to exist in the appropriate environments.
This episode was fascinating for our family to behold. It was a reminder of how God is majestic and great, and has planned carefully God's world here and in heaven is a wonder for us to contemplate and behold. The greatness of God is beyond measure, and yet he has filled the world with wonder for us to behold.
Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Creator God, praise to you for your power and greatness beyond all measure.Help us to always embrace the wonders of your universe. May we strive to live within your plans for each one of us. Amen.
