I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Psalm 143:6

Let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift. Revelation 22:17

The human body is 60 percent water. Approximately. Depends on body type and time of day. We need water. We will die without water. In fact we will die of thirst before we starve to death. That’s how bad we need water.

David’s Psalm was a prayer of longing. Of wanting the presence of God. It was so important that he compared it to thirst. He was almost inconsolable. He thirsted for God. He wanted the presence if God, His forgiveness.

So what does that mean for us. Maybe we should approach God as sinners, asking for forgiveness. Imploring him for forgiveness. Maybe we should just ask. It is simple, really. He is merciful and forgiving. If we are honest and truly believe, He will forgive. Reaching out to God is not as hard as we think it is.

Lord, I am a desert. My soul feels parched. With your living water, I am restored. Thank you for finding me, and letting me share a cup of your living water today. Amen.

“Thousands have lived without love, not one with out water.” W.H. Auden
