You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you. Psalm 40:5

In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:3

When life seems most hopeless, I am always encouraged by the tenacity of people going through most difficult times.

When a loved one is near death, sometimes the most precious moments occur at the close of the person's earthly life. Many are the accounts among families who treasure these memories and carry them in their hearts forever.

During wars innocent people are thrown into the most dire of circumstances. Many can never recover from what they have endured. But accounts abound of the willingness of perfect strangers who help one another; of bravery in the face of untenable danger; of caring people willing to leave home and family to help those affected; of hope when it seems hope would be impossible; etc.

I don't mean to diminish the horrors of all that happens in such times, but the people who depend on their faith and their perseverance to follow God's example as they endure difficulties have the knowledge of God's presence and of his love for each of his children. These are wondrous treasures.  No other treasures can compare.

Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Thank you for  your comfort and guidance for all who face despair. Help us to always focus on Jesus who leads us to the all-encompassing arms of grace. Amen.
