Can a woman forget her nursing child or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these might forget, yet I will not forget you. Isiah 49:15

God is love. 1 John 4:8

Think of a time when you sought help from a parent or another trusted person in your life. You knew that this person would be there for you, or you would not have turned to him or her in the first place. Just having this person in your life cheering you on or offering comfort is an opening to help you feel hope and a sense of well-being.

Could that person be less helpful than you thought s/he would be? Of course that can happen. Usually one is aware of whom can be trusted, and betrayal of trust doesn’t happen.

God is love. God is constant in every part of our lives. God is there to comfort, guide, rejoice, listen, etc., no matter what befalls us. Like a nurturing mother, God intimately knows each one of us and answers our calls for help, reassurance, guidance, forgiveness, and any needs we have. We may not even be able to speak to God to tell of our needs. God knows each of us completely and hears the cries and whispers of our inner being. God will never forsake any of us. We just need to focus on God’s presence in our lives. His comfort passes all understanding.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

Thank you for being there like a loving mother no matter what is making us distressed and lonely. Thank you for calling us back to you when we become distracted. To walk in the comfort of knowing you is what we need the most. Amen.
