God, you remain the same, and your years will never end. Psalm 102:27

Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come. Revelation 1:4

The words in both of the reference verses for today grant we who believe a sense of peace. No matter what, God is always the same. His grace is ours and is sufficient.

There are times when life is too difficult to understand, and one wants to cry out, "Lord, why me; why this?" We do not know why some of the evil of the world persists and causes much strife and pain.  Last night I was watching the news. When I watched the suffering of the woman trying to give a coherent interview; she is a citizen of Ukraine; her house had been bombed, I felt her suffering and knew that she must be crying out from deep within her soul, "Lord, why me; why this?" At such a time the only hope is faith in the one who is and who is to come.

In difficult times the words, "Grace to you and peace from him who is and who is to come," are a calming balm to heal the turmoil in life. We know even in the worst of times God remains the same. Each one of us is a precious child of his, and his grace is the only gift we really need. Will this assurance always feel close at hand? Perhaps not. We cannot know the ways of the world around us and how life can interfere with our sense of well-being, but we do know that God is there to lift us up. He will never change. He will never change in his promise that each person is precious in his sight. What a wonderful constant God is in our lives.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Thank you for your grace and peace which fills our lives. Your inexhaustible love is the best news for our ever-changing world. We are deeply blessed by your enduring presence in our lives. Amen.
