God is not a human being, that he should lie, or a mortal, that he should change his mind. Numbers 23:19

He sustains all things by his powerful word. Hebrews 1:3

God led the Israelites out of Egypt and stood by the Israelites no matter what they did during their forty years in the wilderness. but the Israelites were an unsatisfied lot who constantly tested God’s promises to them. He had to remind them over and over that he would never change his mind regarding what he had promised to them.

God’s word, can we even imagine how powerful is his word and promise for each one of us? Just think of the times when your heart was heavy and in your angst you turned to God. Maybe it took time for the situation to change; however, God was there for you. He has all that is needed to sustain each one of us. His promise of grace through the death and resurrection of Jesus, his son, will never change.

Each one of us! There are and have been millions of us, but we know that God even knows the hairs on each of our heads. He is our anchor even in the worst of times. He tells us that his grace is sufficient for each one of us. When we know this in our heart of hearts, we are lifted from the abyss of our doubts, worries, and fears. We can be assured that his word sustains all living things.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

Thank you for being our anchor today, yesterday, and forever. Help us to cling to your unchanging promises whenever we feel anxiety and turmoil in our lives. You will fulfill your eternal purposes for each one of us and for all of creation. We need no more than your promise. Amen.
