You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. Psalm 116:8

Jesus frees those who all their lives were held in slavery by the fear of death. Hebrews 2:15

The challenges of life can consume one’s every waking moment and rob one of restful sleep. Facing illness, death, loss of loved ones, unemployment, divorce, etc. are real threats to anyone’s sense of well-being. These life crises can test one’s sense of trust in God and make one feel alone and helpless. Today’s verses remind us that we are never alone and that we always have the assurance of eternal life.

We will have challenges; everyone does. With God’s reassurance, we can feel the glimmers of hope that keep us living in the shadow of his promise no matter what we face in this life.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Most blessed Savior, you gave your life that we might have hope and live in the promise of eternal life. Your promise helps us to resist the forces that sap our strength to depend on you. Thank you for such a gift. Continue to lead us in the path you would have us to go. Help us to share your promise with others. In your name we pray, Amen.
