Families Moving Forward

Families Moving Forward is a faith based nonprofit organization in Minneapolis that provides temporary emergency shelter, permanent affordable housing and supportive services to low income families with children. CTK along with other congregations in the Twin Cities provide temporary emergency shelter. CTK host families for one week twice a year. You as a member of CTK can get involved by volunteering to cook and serve an evening meal or breakfast, be a host, stay overnight with the families, or help with the setting up and taking down the sleeping areas.

Families Moving Forward at CTK

November 25 – December 2

The Families Moving Forward program offers families experiencing homelessness hospitality, emergency shelter and a path to home with support for stability. Over 40 congregations throughout the Twin Cities participate, CTK is one of them.   We will be hosting Families Moving Forward for a week, beginning Sunday, November 25th. We’ll have up to 8 families (16 people) staying in the West Chapel. In addition to a safe place to sleep and a warm meal, we share kindness and compassion with the families by socializing, doing activities with the children, and tending to little ones as needed. Overnight volunteers ensure that all runs smoothly and coordinate breakfast the next morning before the families catch the bus to the program center for school, work, and support services.

This is a wonderful opportunity to do your part to help end homelessness.  I encourage you and your family to volunteer, and reap the rewards from spending an evening with our guests.
See the sign-up board in the gathering area for more info and to sign up. Peggy Indahl will connect with new volunteers. Thank you for considering volunteering for this vital ministry!
