Families Moving Forward

Families Moving Forward is a faith based nonprofit organization in Minneapolis that provides temporary emergency shelter, permanent affordable housing and supportive services to low income families with children. CTK along with other congregations in the Twin Cities provide temporary emergency shelter. CTK host families for one week twice a year. You as a member of CTK can get involved by volunteering to cook and serve an evening meal or breakfast, be a host, stay overnight with the families, or help with the setting up and taking down the sleeping areas.

CTK Families Moving Forward

Host Week: November 17 – November 24

CTK will be hosting families from Beacon’s Families Moving Forward Program beginning Sunday, November 17th, through Sunday, November 24th.  There are many opportunities to participate including: set-up/take-down, chore helpers (laundry, etc.), menu coordinator, cooks/servers, evening hosts (childcare) and overnight hosts. We are also asking for on-call volunteers who can help if we need them at the last minute. Our guests and their needs may change throughout the week, so we appreciate your flexibility.

CTK FMF Team needs two volunteers to continue to run this ministry for our church. We can’t do it without your helpWe need another Daily Lead to serve with Suzan Pederson. Daily Leads share the work of preparing and maintaining a welcoming environment for our guests. We also need someone to assist Peggy Indahl with communications and volunteer coordination.  Please consider being a part of leading this vital ministry!  First-time volunteers will be matched with experienced volunteers. CTK members may invite friends/family to volunteer with them. Affirmation and Crowd youth are welcome to host with an adult.

Stop by the FMF table in the Commons to sign up to serve during the November hosting week. If you have questions about responsibilities or the program, contact Peggy Indahl at 612-759-9898. Thank you for volunteering!
