Jump Start 2 School

CTK is happy to be part of Jump Start 2 School, a collaborative Bloomington community initiative, to benefit Bloomington students. On August 8, join community partners to help kids get ready for school. Bloomington students can choose school supplies, families can shop at the Shoe Bus, learn about The Sheridan Story, VEAP, and Bloomington City services. Bloomington Parks and Rec will provide games and an immunization clinic and sports physicals will be available. Mission Parties in August!

There’s two times to party this August. If you are interested in or a part of our Teaching or Worship ministries, you are invited to join together for a time of celebrating, networking, planning, evaluating, and visioning for the future. Lunch included.

Teaching Party – Sunday, August 12th, 11am-1pm

​I​f you have led or would like to lead a Discipleship Discovery Group, or have helped plan and/or lead our Open Forum, Sunday School, Frolic, WOW, Confirmation, Vacation Bible School, Bible Studies, or other teaching ministry team (looking at you Library team), or if you want to be a part of conversations and decisions regarding teaching and education in our church, this party is for you!

Worship Party – Sunday, August 26th, 11am-1pm 

​​I​f you are a part of the altar guild, usher teams, Sunday nursery, Bartimaeus, Trinity Choir, worship band, bells, home communion ministry, pew crew, lectors, or any other worship ministry team, or if you want to be a part of conversations and decisions regarding our worship, this party is for you!

Fall Mums Sale

Greet Fall with colorful plants from Gertens! Update your pots and change out your hanging baskets for beautiful fall color! CTKB kids will be selling a selection of mums gift cards with proceeds going to the CTK Kids Camp Fund. Look for brochures and order forms in the gathering space starting August 12. Orders and money are due August 26, with plants available for pickup on Wed-nesday Sept 12, 5 – 8pm. 

Summer Garden Party

Our annual Bryant Park Community Garden Summer Garden Party (previously called Salsa Party) will be held on August 22nd at 6pm.  Anyone interested in a party and supporting gardening is invited. Kids are especially welcome. Optional activities will include: 1) Touring our garden 2) Making Salsa and a tomato sauce and Zoodles which we will eat and take home any leftovers 3) Garden-themed games 4) Enjoying great conversation and 5) Hopefully a topic and speaker. God’s Work Our Hands Sunday!

September 9th after worship all are invited to join in cleaning Smith Park as a community.  ELCA Lutheran churches around the country will be participating in projects to serve their community on this day! We’ll have lunch together at church before heading over to the park. Sign up in the commons if you’re planning to attend and if you’d like one of the yellow “God’s Work, Our Hands” T-shirts.  The last date to sign up for a t-shirt is August 12th! Mark your calendars and keep your eyes peeled for more details!
