I grew up in Omaha, NE where I learned the values of hard work, fast friendship, a lived faith, and adventure. From there I moved on to Fort Worth, TX where he studied Religion and Spanish at Texas Christian University. While at TCU I got bit by the international travel bug and made my way to China, Tibet, New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, and Nicaragua. After college I spent a year in the Lutheran Volunteer Corps, working as a Youth Ministry Coordinator at a congregation in urban Chicago. During that year I intentionally lived below the poverty line with a community of folks doing the same. From there I enrolled at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where my studies focused on interfaith relations. While at LSTC I met my lovely wife Carolyn. I love new adventures of all kinds, whether they be backpacking & camping outdoors, exploring a new part of town, or laying in my hammock reading an epic fantasy novel. I am passionate about the work that God is doing in our world today and am constantly thinking about how we might become better disciples.

I have had many experiences in ministry and leadership before coming to Christ the King.  I have served in outdoor ministry, as a youth director, volunteer in South Africa, community organizer, intentional interim pastor, and pastoral associate for CYF.  I completed my seminary degree at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul – studying Children, Youth, and Family Ministry.  I also have the joy of serving on a synod committee for Peer Groups and an ELCA Deaconess Community Committee.

I grew up a few blocks from Christ the King and have warm memories of learning and worshipping here with my family.  After high school I went away to college, continued to grow in a variety of places and spaces with many new faces, settled in Burnsville and after a long career in the corporate world, I began working part-time in the church office in 2005.  There are many things involved in the life of the church and now, sitting in a different pew so to speak, my appreciation for mission and ministry at CTK has deepened.  What a joy it is to be part of and work alongside this community! In my second life at Christ the King, I’ve brought along my husband Doug and our young nephews, Oliver and Eli, and our niece, Leila.  It is a gift to share this space and this faith with them and with you.

My life began at CTK in May of 2008. I have been a professional photographer by trade for over 29 years, and have always enjoyed working with people and have grown up in the Lutheran church. Pastor Dave Valen was right in saying CTK would be a great fit for me, and I enjoy working with the members and staff. I was born in Illinois but MN has been my home now for over 27 years. I am married to Patrick and mom to 2 wonderful grown children, David & Megan. I enjoy reading, movies, golf and being with family and friends.
