Families Moving Forward

Families Moving Forward is a faith based nonprofit organization in Minneapolis that provides temporary emergency shelter, permanent affordable housing and supportive services to low income families with children. CTK along with other congregations in the Twin Cities provide temporary emergency shelter. CTK host families for one week twice a year. You as a member of CTK can get involved by volunteering to cook and serve an evening meal or breakfast, be a host, stay overnight with the families, or help with the setting up and taking down the sleeping areas.
Dates FMF are at CTK in 2017 – April 2 – 9 and November 26 – Dec 3

 CTK Families Moving Forward

Host Week: April 2-9

CTK will be hosting families from Beacon’s Families Moving Forward Program beginning Sunday, April 2, through Sunday, April 9.

There are many opportunities to participate in showing hospitality to the families, including:

  • set-up/take-down
  • chore helpers (laundry, etc.)
  • menu coordinator
  • cooks/servers,
  • evening hosts (childcare)
  • overnight hosts

We are also asking for on-call volunteers who can help if we need them at the last minute. Our guests and their needs may change throughout the week, so we appreciate your flexibility.

Stop by the FMF table in the Commons to sign-up to serve during the April hosting week. First-time volunteers will be matched with experienced volunteers.  CTK members may invite friends/family to volunteer with them. Affirmation and Crowd youth are welcome to host with an adult.

If you have questions about responsibilities or the program, contact Peggy Indahl at 612-759-9898.

Thank you for volunteering!
