ELCA Disaster Response


On March 11 2011, one of the largest earthquakes on record with a magnitude of 8.9 struck Japan near a town of Sendai triggering tsunami warnings across the Pacific Ocean. The initial earthquake was followed by 30-foot waves, devastating Japan’s coastal areas and more than 50 aftershocks. The ELCA stands in solidarity with its companion church, The Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church as it assess the safety and security of its members and communities served by the church. The ELCA will accompany the JELC in its planned response to the disaster. Give through Christ the King or send your check directly to:
