The Call Committee regular meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

Progress Status:


  • May 4:  Meet with Bishop Craig Johnson to review call process, gain more insight into candidates. 
  • April 27/28:  Pastoral Candidate Second Interviews.  Continue to visit candidate church services.
  • March 31-April 22: Conducting Pastoral Candidate First Interviews.  Also going to candidates churches to view preaching, service style.
  • March 13: Mock Interview with a Pastor.  Got good feedback on questions, strategy, and what to expect.  Will not meet for regular March 25th meeting.  Will be meeting multiple times last week of March/2 weeks of April for interviews with candidates.
  • March 11: Met via conference call with Pastor Blair Anderson about the Strategic Plan and what it means for the call process.  Finalized plans for Mock (practice) interview to test the strength of our questions/criteria.  Reviewed dates for interviews with top candidates (after Holy Week).
  • Feb 26: Reviewed and agreed upon first interview questions/criteria for candidates.  Agreed to read candidate profiles and recommend top candidates by Sunday March 2 for interviews.  Then the top candidates will be sent CTKB call papers and 50th Anniversary books.  Expect to begin interviewing candidates after Easter, but will try to watch a few preach as time/schedules permit in the meantime.
  • Feb 25: Special meeting.  Met with Bishop Craig to get pastoral candidate names (approximately 15 strong candidates have agreed to be considered for our call).  Bishop's office is still processing some congregation-nominated candidates and will get back to us within a few weeks.
  • Feb 12: Worked on interview questions, evaluation criteria for candidates.
  • Jan 22: Discussion about next steps in call process, retired pastor interview findings.  Discussion on how to involve youth input in the call process.  Finalized pastor submission from congregation form for annual meeting.
  • Jan 8:  Agreed to complete the Congregational Profile and submit before next meeting (update: Submitted to Synod on Jan 17).  Team members will be interviewing retired pastors and report findings at the next meeting.
  • Jan 2: Met with the Strategic Planning Committee to gather information about the church's neighborhood, demographics, etc. 
  • Dec 11: Reviewed congregational profile information completed so far (estimated 1/3 complete) and team discussed changes needed.  The Strategic Plan Committee information is a key input to the profile, so we are reviewing if our help is needed on that committee.  Source documents have been found for the rest of the profile items and will be added to the profile document.  The team also discussed qualities we are seeking in a Sr. Pastor and listened to some advice from Pastor Dave.
  • Nov 27: Discussed input on the congregational profile.  Will be gathering information via a congregational survey and use input from the Strategic Plan, Chuck Loffe report, Blair Anderson report, and Mission 50/50 as just a few examples of sources.
  • Nov 13th: Discussed the call process timeline and first steps.  The team assigned actions to start filling out the congregational profile.  A congregational profile is like a resume for the church in the call process.
  • Nov 6th: The team's first meeting was with Bishop Craig Johnson to learn about the call process.
